Overview:
This project develops digitized passbook for the Grameen Bank borrowers. A borrower can check all their banking transaction records, schedule, status of loan and saving, etc., in a highly secured manner. This multipurpose card will also keep the family health records of the members facilitating better health care services.
History:
2007.07: Grameen and Kyushu University signed an agreement to develop models for social information infrastructure for developing countries.
2007.12: Grameen asks for solution to digitize their current paper based passbook.
2008.04: Prof. Ashir discusses with Grameen to develop a technical requirement specification for the passbook and develops the first version of the requirement specification.
2008.09: Fukuoka IST sponsors to develop a detailed spec for the ePassbook system.
2008.12: Prof. Ashir teams with Prof Ishida to develop the ePassbook. IST funded.
2009.04: JETRO funds for the development and experiment.
2009.09: Sample developed. NHK documented the project.
2009.12: First demo and experiment implemented.
2010.10: 2nd phase demo shown.
